About us 

UltraSens - Precision Metrology and Quality Control, is a company specialized in the design and development of solutions for automatic inspection and control of industrial processes based on advanced sensory systems.

UltraSens have only higher education employees, providing consulting services in the areas of automation, control processes, metrology and quality control.

The company is located in the incubator of companies of the Instituto Pedro Nunes in Coimbra, which allows it to maintain close contact with researchers at the University of Coimbra to fill any areas for which has not indigenous skills.  

What we do

We develop advanced solutions using computer vision allied with the use of high precision sensors such as laser sensors, inductive sensors, capacitive sensors and ultrasonic sensors.

Technological solutions and emblematic projects

• Development of a machine based on computer vision for automated analysis of various parameters of quality of the paper, including: roughness, watermarks and failures of starch and another machine to measure the abrasive paper. (Customer: Soporcel)
• Development of a system for automatic detection of brick pavement in micro fissures through ultrasound scans. This system has led to a patent (Customer: Poceram)
• Automatic control of rubber extruder using triangulation laser to measure the thickness at output (Customer: Empobor)
• Measuring systems for perimeters, eccentricity and distance to the tissue of tires during the various stages of reconstruction, with capacity for data acquisition and supervision by RS485 or Ethernet (Customers: the main business of retreading of Portugal)
• Advanced control systems and supervision for machinery test structures by compression or extension for fatigue testing with electrical, hydraulic and piezoeléctric technologies (Customers: departments of mechanical and civil engineering) 
• Automatic inspection systems based on computer vision (Customers: Dan Cake, Bel group, Mahle, others)
• Environmental monitoring systems and automated systems to collecting water and other fluids for later analysis (Customers: Cesab, others)
